The Rest Of Our Lives

Jo Fong and George Orange

Presented by Under the Radar and La MaMa

“Fong and Orange have found a blueprint for happily living the rest of our lives.” – The Guardian

Hopefully hopeful, The Rest of Our Lives is a joyful dose of dance, theatre, circus and games. A cabaret of life and near death. Two middle-aged lives in an eclectic, spontaneous, predictable and random decline. Jo is an old dancer, George an old clown. International artists with over 100 years of life experience between them, armed with a soundtrack of floor-fillers, a book of raffle tickets and a sprinkling of eco-friendly optimism. Joyful, celebratory and hilarious. The struggle is real. It’s the beginning of the end. But we’re still here.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Jo and George have performance backgrounds in dance, theatre, live art, circus, clown, comedy, cabaret, street theatre… and more. They’ve performed together in village halls, dance halls, dance festivals, theatre festivals, live art events, comedy festivals, queer festivals, inclusive festivals and ageless festivals, on miniature stages with beer on the floor and at grand international art platforms. They have been working together since 2016 and collaborated on Ways of Being Together and How Shall We Begin Again? which were presented at Chapter 2017 and Wales Millennium Centre 2023. In recent years they were supported by British Council and Wales Arts International. They visited Indonesia and Viet Nam presenting The Rest of Our Lives and working with local artists, elders and people who love to move.  They shared their practice and created new collaborative encounters. During the residency with SaigonTheatreLand Jo and George created and presented Kicking Cans and Picking Up Leaves in Ho Chi Minh City with a cast of people who are at heart dance artists and movers, but don’t yet get to do this for a living. The Rest of Our Lives was nominated for a UK Theatre Award in 2024 and won an Offie Award in 2025.
